This role is part of the Oncology R&D team tasked with supporting Clinical and Commercial production across multiple sites. 

The Senior Manager (m/f/d) Cell Therapy Hub is primarily responsible for managing each patient and cell journey throughout the treatment. This dynamic role requires an outstanding ability to manage patient cases within an assigned geographic area, coordinating between medical professionals at sites and AstraZeneca cross-functional teams to progress patients through the vein-to-vein journey. To be successful in this role, you will have experience coordinating patients, supporting providers, and comfortable navigating multiple digital platforms. We are looking for oncology patient coordination, hospital, immuno-oncology, and cell/gene therapy experience. This is a field-based position within our Cell Therapy Patient Operations team and reports into a Sr. Director, Cell Therapy Hub.

Your Impactful Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager (m/f/d) in our Cell Therapy Hub, you’ll play a vital role in delivering cutting-edge cancer treatments to patients. You’ll be the trusted face of AstraZeneca at treatment sites, ensuring a seamless and compassionate experience throughout the entire patient journey.

  • Be the key contact for hospital teams, building strong relationships and enhancing the overall cell therapy experience at each site.

  • Own the patient journey from registration to infusion—managing every step with precision, empathy, and urgency.

  • Collaborate across functions with Clinical Operations, Supply Chain, Medical, IT, and Commercial teams to meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers.

  • Communicate with care, ensuring that critical updates are shared clearly and empathetically with site stakeholders.

  • Support site readiness, coordinating logistics and training to ensure smooth access to AstraZeneca’s digital platforms.

  • Resolve challenges proactively, from supply issues to coordination gaps, always keeping the patient’s wellbeing at the center.

  • Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to address product-related issues and drive continuous improvement.

  • Create and refine SOPs and training materials, helping shape the future of cell therapy operations.

  • Master our systems and processes, becoming an expert in the AstraZeneca Cell Therapy Hub tools and workflows.

  • Drive innovation, contributing ideas and solutions that elevate the patient experience and streamline operations.

  • Stay informed and compliant, following all regulatory standards and internal procedures.

  • Lead change, coordinating the rollout of new processes and improvements across your assigned sites.

  • Travel extensively (>50%), engaging directly with sites and teams to make a real-world impact.

Your Profile

You are a proactive and empathetic professional with a strong background in cell therapy or advanced patient coordination. You thrive in dynamic, cross-functional environments and bring a solution-oriented mindset to every challenge.

  • A Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in a relevant field — ideally in Life Sciences, Nursing, or a related discipline. (An advanced degree such as PharmD, NP, PA, or Biomedical Engineering is a strong plus.)

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Cell Therapy Program, with hands-on involvement in roles such as: Research Coordinator, Nurse Coordinator, Apheresis Nurse, Cell Lab Professional, Quality Manager

  • Solid understanding of healthcare systems and/or regulatory environments, with the ability to navigate complexity and compliance confidently.

  • Proven ability to solve site-facing challenges, manage competing priorities, and drive results in a matrixed organization.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build trust with stakeholders and convey critical information with empathy and clarity.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, especially in field-based roles requiring autonomy and adaptability.

  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams including Clinical Ops, Supply Chain, Medical, and IT.

  • Comfort with digital platforms and tools, and a willingness to continuously learn and improve.

  • A genuine passion for patient care, with a mindset focused on service, quality, and continuous improvement.

Bonus Experience (Nice to Have):

  • Experience working with critical raw material suppliers or contract manufacturing organizations.

  • Familiarity with oncology, immuno-oncology, or gene/cell therapy environments.

  • Exposure to process improvement, training, or SOP development in clinical or operational settings.
